Specially written for the National Youth Theatre the play was one of the first stories to capture the phenomenon of football fans and depicts with enormous vigour the story of Harry Philton, a 'football fanatic' and his progress forwards from the end of his schooldays.
Football is in fact only the background to the author's real concern, which is the emptiness and futility facing so many youngsters today when they leave secondary school at fifteen, only to find themselves in a series of dead-end jobs. 50 years later Peter Terson's landmark play still has relevance today.
Two performances on Saturday 13 July, 10.30am and 2.30pm
Available from the theatre on 01792 473238 or on line, www.dylanthomastheatre.org.uk
